Easy Home Remedies for Bad Breath

A lot of people have bad breath; some can’t stand it and others just don’t give a damn about it. But I’m going to tell you what causes your mouth to smell bad. You know that rotten egg odor? That’s actually hydrogen sulfide gas (H2S). This is produced by bacteria in your intestine and travels through your blood stream to your lungs where it is exhaled. Clove Oil

Cloves are native to Indonesia and India. They are known to have many benefits ranging from their use as a household cleaner to their ability to relieve stomach cramps. Cloves have been shown to reduce the number of bacteria present in the mouth. Clove oil can be applied topically on the gums and teeth to treat bad breath caused by plaque buildup. Simply rub clove oil onto the gum line and massage until it disappears. To further kill any remaining bacteria, rinse with warm saltwater.


Honey is a natural antiseptic and antibacterial. It can help kill bacteria that cause bad breath. Simply add 2 teaspoons honey to 4 ounces warm water. Mix well, then drink twice daily.

Listerine Mouthwash

Listerine mouthwash is one of the best home remedies for bad breath. Simply swishing your mouth out with the alcohol-based mouthwash once or twice per day can eliminate bacteria that cause halitosis (bad breath). If this isn’t enough to get rid of the problem, try gargling with warm saltwater for 10-15 minutes before rinsing thoroughly. This technique may not work as well if there are dental problems that cause bad breath.

Apple cider vinegar has been used since ancient times to treat various health conditions. This is primarily due to its high content of acetic acid, which helps eliminate bad breath. To use this remedy, mix 1 tablespoon apple cider vinegar into 8 ounces of water. Drink twice daily.
